Possible Deregistration of AMCU as a Trade Union

In a notice in the Government Gazette in terms of section 106 (2B) of the Labour Relations Act, labour registrar Lehlohonolo Daniel Molefe announced his intention to deregister AMCU as a trade union.

The reasons given are:

  1. the trade union ceased to function in terms of its constitution; and

  2. the trade union is not a genuine trade union as envisaged in the Act.

Objections hereto must be lodged within 60 days, after the objections are considered a final decision will be made.
