Do you know what the different qualifying contribution types are for Socio-economic Development?

Firstly, for Socio-economic Development, monetary or non-monetary contributions can be made HOWEVER these contributions, must:

  • Be made with the objective to facilitate income generating activities whereby it promotes the sustainable access of the beneficiaries to the economy, and

  • For 100% recognition, at least 75% of the ultimate beneficiaries need to be Black South African Citizens.

Based on the General Amended Codes for the LE and QSE scorecard:

Contribution types include:

  • Development programmes for women, youth, people with disabilities, and people living in rural areas,

  • Support of healthcare and HIV/AIDS programmes,

  • Support of education programmes, resources and materials at primary, secondary and tertiary education level as well as bursaries and scholarships,

  • Community training, Skills Development for unemployed people and Adult Basic Education and Training (ABET), and

  • Support of arts, cultural or sporting development programmes.

“Project Contributions” refer to monetary or non-monetary contributions carried out for the benefit of any projects approved by an organ of state or sector and include:

  • Projects focusing on environmental conservation, awareness, education and waste management,

  • Projects targeting infrastructural development or reconstruction in underdeveloped areas, and

  • New projects promoting beneficiation.
