Public Holiday: 1st of November 2021

The day of the local government elections has been declared a public holiday by President Cyril Ramaphosa.

The 1st of November 2021 will be a public holiday, voters are encouraged to use this day to place their vote while adhering to COVID-19 safety protocols.

Employers must note that employees will be entitled to full pay on the day if it is their normal working day and if employees are asked to work on that day they will receive double pay.

Employers will also need to allow their employees an opportunity to go and place their vote while the voting stations are open.
