It has been announced by Employment and Labour Minister Thulas Nxesi that the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) will pay relief payments submitted under COVID-19 TERS until the end of June 2020.

The Minister further confirmed that this was in keeping with the directive issued on the 26th of March 2020. Eligible employees will receive benefits in accordance with COVID-19 Directives for the months of April, May and June 2020. They will be paid according to the same structure of between 38% and 60%.

The Fund has further confirmed that applications which were received in April and May 2020 which were registered on the system will still be processed and paid once any outstanding documentation has been received. This will also be the case where claims were declined due to lack of information.

It is therefore advisable to contact the Department of Labour to follow up as to whether any documentation or information is still outstanding in respect of documentation.
