Newsflash! Health and Safety Prevention Accord and The Occupational Health and Safety Strategy
The Department of Employment and Labour “DEL”, in partnership with key stakeholders, launched the Occupational Health and Safety Prevention Accord on 16th October 2024 at Emperors Palace. This forms part of the broader OHS Strategy 2024-2029 and focuses on enhancing collaboration, preventing workplace injuries, and promoting a culture of safety across various sectors.
The OHS Accord’s main focus is on the development of strategies that improve the health and well-being of workers while simultaneously supporting productivity. This is in light of the growing concerns over workplace safety and the impact of health-related incidents.
The other key stakeholders involved in the signing of the accord include the Compensation Fund, Federated Employers Mutual Assurance and Rand Mutual Assurance.
