Newsflash: Employment Equity Reporting Period Opened
The Department of Employment and Labour (DOEL) has confirmed that clients will not be required to deregister from the Employment Equity (EE) system. Instead, companies with fewer than 50 employees must log in to the EE system and update their profile, including capturing the total number of employees they employ. This step will automatically determine whether the company must proceed with Employment Equity submissions or not.
Important notes:
- Access to the EE Compliance Certificate will be linked to this process.
- Reminder letters will continue to be issued annually to all employers, including those with fewer than 50 employees.
- These letters should not be interpreted as a requirement to deregister.
- The DOEL has confirmed that no deregistration process is required.
Employers are therefore encouraged to access the system, complete the necessary steps, and ensure they remain aligned with compliance requirements.
