The Minister of Employment and Labour has declared that the Main Collective Agreement concluded in the South African Road Passenger Bargaining Council be extended to non-parties. This means that the conditions specified in the Agreement are binding on the parties who concluded the collective agreement and on other employers and employees in that industry.
Across the board increases are some of the provisions covered in the Main Collective agreement. An across-the-board increase on the hourly rate of all employees, for the term of the agreement, will apply as follows:
-
The base rate of pay for the purpose of this clause will be the hourly rate payable to employees immediately preceding the commencement date of this Agreement.
-
An across-the-board increase of 5 % on the base rate of pay will become due from 1 April 2024 for the parties and on a date determined by the Minister for non-parties, until 31 March 2025.
-
An across-the-board increase of 6.5% on the base rate of pay as at 31 March 2025 will become due from 1 April 2025 until 31 March 2025 or until replaced by a subsequent agreement and shall be applicable to all eligible employees and their employers.
The Agreement comes into effect from 17 June 2023 until 31 March 2026, or until it is replaced by a subsequent agreement.
