Bargaining Council for the Furniture Manufacturing Industry Kwazulu Natal

The Minister of Employment and Labour hereby, in terms of section 32(7) of the Labour Relations Act No. 66 of 1995, cancels the following Government notices, with effect from 1 April 2024: 

  • Nos R.1187 of 30 September 2016 
  • R.434 of 30 July 2021  
  • R.1497 of 11 November 2021 
  • R.1795 of 12 May 2023 

The Government Notices that have been cancelled concern the Bargaining Council for the Furniture Manufacturing Industry in KwaZulu-Natal’s Provident Fund and Mortality Benefit Association Collective Agreement.  

In addition to the cancellation notice, there is also a notice regarding the extension of the Collective Agreement to non-parties. This means that the conditions specified therein shall be binding on the parties who concluded the Collective Agreement and on the other employers and employees in that industry. The Collective Agreement comes into effect from 1 April 2024.   

Any person bound to this agreement may apply for exemption. The authority of the Bargaining council is to consider applications for exemptions and grant exemptions. An employer to whom a certificate of exemption has been issued shall at all times have the certificate available for inspection in the workplace.
