Newsflash! Application for Variation of Scope of Furniture Bargaining Councils

The Deputy Registrar of Labour Relations, Mongwadi Mary Ngwetjana, has issued notices confirming receipt of the applications from two Bargaining Councils to amend the following scopes: –

  1. The Bargaining Council for the Furniture Manufacturing Industry of the Western Cape – the variation is aimed at extending the Bargaining Council’s registered scope to the Eastern Cape.

  2. The Furniture Manufacturing Industry of KwaZulu-Natal – the variation is intended to define and expand definitions of furniture and board to include door frames and doors, kitchen cupboard tops and kitchen cupboard compliments (irrespective of material used).

Objections to the applications, if any, must be lodged with the Registrar of Labour Relations within 30 days of the date of these notices by:

 

A copy of the objections must be served on the applicant within the said 30-day period and the Registrar must be satisfied that such service was effected. After that, the applicant may respond to any objection within 14 days of the expiry of the 30-day period and must satisfy the Deputy Registrar that the response has been properly served on the objecting party.
