MEIBC Amended agreements extended to non-parties

Notice for the extension to non-parties of the Consolidated Pension Fund Collective Amending Agreement, the Sick Pay Fund Collective Amending Agreement, and the Consolidated Provident Fund Collective Amending Agreement concluded in the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council have been published

The Minister of Employment and Labour has declared that the Consolidated Pension Fund Collective Amending Agreement, the Sick Pay Fund Collective Amending Agreement, and the Consolidated Provident Fund Collective Amending Agreement which were concluded in the Metal and Engineering Industries Bargaining Council be extended to non-parties. This means that the conditions specified therein shall be binding on the parties who concluded the collective agreement and on the other employers and employees in that industry.

The extension to non-parties of the Consolidated Pension Fund and Provident Fund Collective Amending Agreements come into effect from the second Monday after the date of publication of this Notice and for the period ending 30 April 2026.

The Sick Pay Fund Collective Amending Agreement comes into effect from the second Monday after the date of publication of this Notice and for the period ending 31 December 2026.

Call for comment on the intention to cancel the registration of the Paper Packaging Employers Association has been published

The Registrar of Labour Relations, in terms of section 106(2B) of the Labour Relations Act No. 66 of 1995 (“the Act”), intends to cancel the registration of Paper Packaging Employers Association (“the organisation”) for the failure to comply with the provisions of sections 98, 99, and 100 of the Act, and for the organisation ceasing to function in terms of its constitution. The organisation or any other interested parties are invited to submit written representations as to why the registration should not be cancelled. Submissions must be lodged to the Registrar of Labour Relations care of the Department of Employment and Labour, by post as specified in the Notice, within 60 days of the date of this Notice.
