Furniture Bargaining Council – Cancellation of Government Notices published by Department of Employment and Labour
The Minister of Employment and Labour has, in terms of section 32(7) of the Labour Relations Act No. 66 of 1995, published a notice cancelling Government Notices No. R.1727 of 31 March 2023, R.3561 of 23 June 2023, R. 4026 of 3 November 2023, R. 4233 of 5 January 2024 and R. 4752 of 26 April 2024 with effect from 3 February 2025.
The cancelled notices related to the extension of the Furniture Bargaining Council’s main collective agreement to non-parties. The Furniture Bargaining Council continues to be a pivotal institution in promoting fair labour practices and improving working conditions within the furniture manufacturing industry in South Africa. The council comprises various members and representatives from both employers and employees, ensuring that all parties have a voice in negotiations and decision-making processes. This collaborative approach is essential for maintaining harmony within the industry.
