COVID-19 TERS Applications for period 16 March 2021 – 25 July 2021

TERS applications for the period of 16 March 2021-25 July 2021 has opened.

This TERS Payout will bring relief for the following categories of workers:

  • Workers who have not been able to work from 16 March 2021, due to restrictions in terms of the Disaster Management Act preventing gatherings of a certain number of people – such as in the entertainment industry.

  • Workers who were or are still impacted by the Level 4 restrictions which commenced on 28 June 2021.

  • Vulnerable employees who cannot work from home or be accommodated in another way and who are at higher risk of complications or death if they contract Covid 19.

Payment will commence on the 26th of July 2021.

The process for submitting claims is the same as for previous TERS periods, with one major change in the procedure and payment. Employers are expected to submit claims on behalf of the employees, but payments will be made directly into the bank accounts of the affected employees, to avoid abuse by unscrupulous employers.
